In stark contrast to the blizzard conditions that forced cancellation of the Winter Solstice Celebrations at The Ancestor, the full moon rose in a clear crisp sky for the rescheduled party.
Despite the freezing conditions, -
A&R Metalcraft launched their latest sculpture, The Light Bearer, the story of an ancient fairy charged with keeping the light burning through the longest night. Based on a description of the fairy folk, tall and elegant with pointed features and shining skin, The Light Bearer is as delicate and elegant as The Ancestor is neanderthol in his proportions. Successfully telling a tale long forgotten she is a beautiful piece.
The music by Druidicca was good foot stomping fun, which along with the mulled wine and chocolate helped to keep out the cold.
Many people were impressed by the decorations created for The Ancestor, individually made interlocking wreaths made up his crown whilst circling him in the snow wreaths holding candles. 'Another wonderful crown', said Michelle 'Its fun and exciting to see what has been made and we are grateful to everyone for all the effort that they put in'. This seasons crown was created by Beth Fowkes from Wiltshire Wildlife with community groups from Tidworth, Upavon, Bulford and the Army Cadets.
Lastly was an enthusiastically received dowsing demonstration and have a go session with Frank Somers of the Aes Dana grove, before Mrs Debbie Corbett of Netheravon won a stunning metal wreath depicting hares and oak leaves that was created especially to raffle on the night to raise money for Help for Heroes.
The combined fundraising effort between A&R Metalcraft and Druidicca raised £320 pounds for the local charity..
Michelle and Andy would like to thank The Stonehenge Chamber of Trade, The Amesbury
